Situated on 3.4 hectare of riverfront land, underneath the iconic Story Bridge, the disused 1880s era Howard Smith Wharves will be transformed into a lifestyle, entertainment and events precinct with stunning uninterrupted views of the iconic Story Bridge and city skyline.
The innovative precinct will house an exhibition and events centre, boutique Art Series hotel, craft brewery and an array of chic restaurants.
Howard Smith Wharves Development Director Luke Fraser said Howard Smith Wharves is the ultimate venue for any special event.
“HSW is warm and rich in character and offers a unique and memorable event experience- to set foot here is an event in itself,” he said.
HSW features two unique indoor event spaces and a vast assortment of outdoor event spaces, from rooftop terraces, pop up marquees and intimate private event spaces nestled amongst the cliffs.
Mr Fraser said the unique event spaces are perfect for any corporate or private event, with onsite parking and accommodation, and just a 5 minute walk to Brisbane’s CBD.
“We can cater for as little as 10 or as many as 1000 people at each event and we are passionate about serving restaurant quality food using fresh, local ingredients,” he said.
Brisbane Convention Bureau General Manager Rob Nelson said the HSW development would be an exciting new addition to the city.
“Brisbane is constantly evolving with new and unique ideas, venues, hotels and experiences and HSW is a shining example of quality infrastructure that will further enhance our already strong business events offering,” he said.
“We are very excited to be working with HSW to attract and help stage business events that will give organisers and delegates a truly unique experience leaving them with lasting memories of Brisbane.”
Taking centre stage would be a state of the art, 1500 square-metre Exhibition Building designed by the internationally-renowned architectural firm, Woods Bagot which features retractable glass windows overlooking the city skyline.
Mr Fraser said the Exhibition Building features a timber decking arrival space and wide veranda over the river with picturesque views that can be utilised as pre-event arrival drinks area.
“Stunning rooftop terraces on both sides of the venue are the perfect space for standalone cocktail events,” he said.
Howard Smith Wharves’ Director of Sales Sally Pulford said the Exhibition Building is a versatile space, ideal for many uses.
”The Exhibition Building can seat up to 1,000 in banquet mode and features operable walls to allow the flexible use of space with the ability to house multiple events at once,” she said.
Ms Pulford said the Heritage Wharf Building will be one of Brisbane’s most unique event spaces overlooking the city and Story Bridge, seating up to 350 in banquet mode.
“The rich timber flooring, exposed timber beams and heritage features will be retained in the rejuvenation.”
“Teamed with a bakery and coffee roasting facilities housed within this space, this will be one of Brisbane’s most spectacular and desired event venues,” she said.
Ms Pulford said HSW Events is already attracting strong interest.
“We have already made several bookings for 2017,” she said.
