Plenty of Events in Sydney and New South Wales

From family-favourite, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics to stunning Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour - Turandot to popular regional foodie event, Orange F.O.O.D Week, Sydney and New South Wales’ exciting events calendar has something for everyone over the coming month.

SYDNEY
  • Until May 1: The world premiere of renowned New York LEGO brick artist, Nathan Sawaya’s latest exhibition, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics will show exclusively at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum. The Art of the Brick is the most successful LEGO brick exhibition series of all time. The latest iteration will see heroes and villains including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and The Joker re-created in Sydney, to entertain visitors of all ages
  • Until May 1: The Sydney International Art Series brings the world's most outstanding exhibitions exclusively to Sydney, Australia. The MCA exhibition Grayson Perry - My Pretty Little Art Career will be the artist's first exhibition in the Southern hemisphere. One of best known British artists of his generation, and a winner of the 2003 Turner Prize, Perry is known for his ceramics, sculptures and tapestries
  • Until July 18: At the Australian Museum, Trailblazers: Australia's 50 greatest explorers tells the stories of the pioneers who pushed beyond the boundaries to change the way we see the world. In this interactive exhibition, visitors will discover what it's really like to be an adventurer and learn about the incredible talents and techniques of Indigenous Australians, the nation's first explorers
  • March 18 – 28: Volleyfest will return to Manly Beach for the second time, treating spectators to performances by 14 visiting countries in a series of Volleyball tournaments across a three week period in March.

REGIONAL
  • March 17-18: The Commercial Club Albury Gold Cup Carnival is now clearly established as one of the premier country racing carnivals in Australia and recognised as an iconic event for the fast developing city of Albury
  • March 31 – April 10: Over 11 nights, 11 Australian films will be screened in the vineyards of the Around Hermitage Wine and Food Trail for the Hunter Valley Wine, Food & Film Festival. Enjoy the ambiance of the vineyards watching some of Australia’s best films matched with food and wine from local providores
Orange Challenge 
  • March 20: In the style of a European one day classic, starting and finishing in Orange, the 170km Orange Challenge circuit takes you through Cudal, Canowindra, Mandurama and across the ascents of Mt Canobolis. The never ending hills, sharp tough climbs and challenging road surfaces will put all of your training to the test
  • March 24 – April 24: Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour - Turandot offers the best of Sydney in a single evening: singing, sunsets and sparkling wine, in perfect harmony. In 2016, Handa Opera in Sydney Harbour presents Turandot: an exotic fantasy of a death-marked love told with the city skyline reflected in your glass, featuring the famous aria 'Nessun Dorma'
  • April 8 – May 8: Sculpture at Scenic World 2016 will transform the natural rainforest in the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains with world-class sculpture showcasing local, national and international artists to offer the perfect Autumn arts escape
  • April 8 – 17: Orange F.O.O.D Week (Food Of Orange District) supports local produce and 'fine food' with an annual event held over 10 days in April, showcasing the producers, their products, the local chefs and restaurants, and other enterprises that provide the region with its great reputation for fine food and wine.
