DREAM CAST ANNOUNCED FOR DISNEY’S ALADDIN

Sydney is delighted to welcome some of the best musical theatre performers and exciting new talent from Australia and New Zealand chosen to perform in the new Disney musical comedy, Aladdin.
Based on the Academy Award®-winning animated film, Aladdin will open at the Capitol Theatre in August with tickets on sale from 8 March. NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said the hit new musical will again show that Sydney is Australia’s home of live performance and first run musicals.

“Disney’s Aladdin is a story with universal appeal, and visitation to Sydney for the production is sure to reflect this. Aladdin is expected to generate around $39 million in visitor spend and bring more than 120,000 visitors to Sydney,” Mr Ayres said.

“The NSW Government is committed to securing a world-class calendar of musicals for the State, providing yet another compelling reason for visitors to come to Sydney and NSW and experience everything we have to offer,” Mr Ayres added.

The dream cast will be one of the most diverse and multi-cultural to appear on an Australian stage. American performer Michael James Scott will play the pivotal role of the Genie while exciting new discovery, Ainsley Melham, will make his mainstage debut in the title role of Aladdin. The principal cast features international musical theatre star Adam Jon Fiorentino (Saturday Night Fever, Mary Poppins) as Kassim, stage and television performer Adam Murphy as Jafar and Robert Tripolino in the role of Omar. One of Australia’s most accomplished character actors and musical theatre stars Troy Sussman stars as Babkak while stage and television actor Aljin Abella is Iago.
