In a survey on trade and public visitors of ITE & MICE 2014 held last June, respectively 22% (over 2700) of the trade visitors and 30% (22,590) of the public visitors interest in Sport Tourism! Officially launched for the first time, the travel theme of Sport Tourism targets both trade and public especially the wealthy FIT; the dedicated sport enthusiasts, families, learners and those who like to include only some sport elements in their holidays!
To better promote Sport Tourism, the bilingual adventure and eco-tourism magazine of HK Discovery co-organizes the Sport Tourism Pavilion of ITE & MICE, which helps also in setting up the Sport Education Corner for related displays and demos, and staging public seminars; and inviting several related organizations, professionals and outdoor brands to take part. Found in 2000, HK Discovery has been ITE media partner since 2003.
ITE & MICE exhibitors, comprising of tourism boards, attractions, hotels, resorts, agents and airlines etc, more now feature sport tourism through products, displays and seminars. For examples, they can include cycling in Taiwan, hiking in Switzerland, skiing in Japan, diving and water sports in island paradises etc. In all, its 650 exhibitors (85% overseas) came from around 50 countries, and other travel themes like Overseas Wedding, Travel Photography and Cruise etc are highlighted. In fact, ITE & MICE covers luxury travels in breadth and depth!
In 2014, ITE & MICE drew in the two trade days 12308 regional trade visitors with 74% from Hong Kong and 19% from China mainly Guangdong, and in the two public days 75300 visitors with 83% prefer traveling in FIT / private groups. Over 6500 trade visitors are from travel agents, around 850 from media, while some 2600 from MICE and corporations. Some 59% and 15.8% of the public visitors made respectively 2 to 4 and 5 or more holidays in past year. Exhibitors therefore can conduct trade promotions, networking and channel sale in trade days, mass promotions and direct sale in public days.
ITE & MICE 2015, which co-locates the 29th ITE (leisure) and the 10th ITE MICE, will be held from June 11 to 14, 2015 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. It is supported by China National Tourism Administration, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, Macau Government Tourists Office, associations of travel trade and MICE industries in Hong Kong and neighboring areas.
