City Seasons Muscat Set for Tourist Influx to Oman

Based on statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, in 2012, tourist arrivals to the Sultanate of Oman rose to over two million from 1.4 million in 2011. With this in mind, Oman saw the strongest growth in RevPAR, an average increase of 28% over the past 12 months, mainly as a combination of occupancy increase of over 25% and marginal ADR growth. However, as supply and demand remain stable in 2014, the ADR is expected to show solid improvement

City Seasons Muscat offer one of the largest guest rooms inventory in Muscat as well as extensive meeting and convention facilities. The apartments annex are fully integrated in the hotel and get full service and facilities; they are spacious, modern and elegantly furnished which makes them the best fit for home office or a family stay. Being centrally located, the hotel is the best address for corporate, government, meetings and conventions, as well as tourists who can easily reach the heritage sights inside the capital, as well as the pristine beaches.

"In line with the main goals of the Ministry of Tourism that aims to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP from 2.4 percent to three percent, it is certainly an encouraging sign for a business hotel, particularly as several international tour operators are showing interest in securing allocations for the coming months", says George Demitry, General Manager of City Seasons Muscat

"I do believe it is mainly in anticipation of an increased demand which will exceed the capacity of beach and desert resorts as well as foreseen demand on other Omani tourist attractions," he added.

Although MICE business is set to lead the growth over the coming years, due to gradual relocation of conventions from traditional hubs in other Middle- Eastern countries particularly in the pharmaceutical and medical related fields, the leisure travel will be as important for City Seasons Muscat. Following the vision of 2020 and efforts made by governmental bodies to energize the tourist industry in Oman, Hotels will soon have to satisfy an increasing demand for groups, families and visitors attracted by pristine shores and unique beach resorts but also a variety of resources in terms of adventure, heritage and cultural tourism. Moreover Oman offers a safe and friendly environment and affordable family destination with unlimited outdoor and nature attractions.

“It is evident we are witnessing signs of solid growth; I do believe the hotel industry in Oman is benefiting of an encouraging business and economic activities, major growth factors are Infrastructure investments and mega projects, art and cultural programs, sports and youth activities and certainly focused destination management plans and government marketing initiatives”, Demitry concluded.
