The eighth biennial week-long Hue Festival is set to kick off on April 12, 2014 under the theme “Cultural heritage with integration and development”.
In making the announcement, the Festival’s Organizing Committee also announced that France is the principal cultural exchange partner for this year’s event which is attracting artists and artisans from roughly 25 countries and territories worldwide.
Vietinbank became the biggest sponsor to date on September 21 after it agreed to fund VND5 billion (US$230,000 USD) for the event.
Vietinbank’s Thua Thien-Hue branch also transferred the bo bien chung (brass bell instruments) that were used in Hue’s royal performances during the Nguyen dynasty, to the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre after spending VND300 million (US$14,200) for their restoration.
