First Annual Under the Sea Film Festival

The first annual Under the Sea Film Festival will be hosted at the historic Avoca Beach Picture Theatre feature two world premiere films - Acid Ocean and The Tipping Points: Ocean.

The vision of the festival to examine one of the most powerful, least explored and, for many of us, least understood components of life on our planet. The impact of what happens Under The Sea reverberates into every aspect of our existence. It demands and deserves our awareness, intention and action.

There will be something for everyone here: those who regularly visit Under The Sea for recreation, sport, commerce or study will expand their context of understanding and, by sharing, elevate ours. For those who don\'t have the opportunity to visit this awesome environment, the festival provides a magic carpet ride into wonderment and enlightenment.

Marine scientists across the world are racing to tackle the most urgent environmental challenge facing our planet today - ocean acidification. From the icy polar seas to the world's most pristine coral reefs we track the latest scientific research. Heading the investigation is Dr Katharina Fabricius from the Australian Institute of Marine Science. She's made a game-changing discovery. Nestled amongst Papua New Guinea's stunning coral gardens is a unique reef - a window to the future of our oceans. From award-winning documentarian Sally Ingleton and 360 Degree Films
