Sydney International Rowing Regatta

Tickets for the biggest rowing event ever held in Australia are now on sale. The Sydney International Rowing Regatta, being held between 18-24 March 2013, is expected to draw huge crowds to the International Regatta Centre at Penrith, and a ‘who’s who’ of global rowing entries, among them London 2012 Olympic champions.

The regatta will essentially be four events in one, encompassing the first of next year’s Samsung World Rowing Cup regattas, the Australian Open Championships, the King’s Cup and Queen’s Cup Interstate Regatta and the Australian Open Schools Rowing Championships.

The regatta is expected to attract entrants from rowing’s power base in Europe and North America and also the Asia-Pacific region.

The NSW Government, through Destination NSW, is a key partner in the Sydney International Rowing Regatta, securing the Samsung World Rowing Cup opening round for 2013 and 2014.

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer, Sandra Chipchase, said this will be the largest rowing regatta in the Asia Pacific region since the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.

“As Australia’s global events city, we look forward to welcoming competitors and supporters from around the world to experience the first class Olympic facilities at Penrith,” said Ms Chipchase.

Tickets to the Sydney International Rowing Regatta can be purchased through Ticketek http://premier.ticketek.com.au
