CULTOUR, Global Heritage & Cultural Travel Exhibition

The 3rd CULTOUR, Global Heritage & Cultural Travel Exhibition will be held in Quito, Ecuador from the 22nd to 24th June 2011

CULTOUR is travel trade market directed to the cultural and heritage travel market, where worldwide travel and tourism organizations and companies meet by individual and pre-requested appointments with European, USA, Latin American and Asian pre-selected hosted buyers organizing or contracting these kind of cultural and heritage travels. These buyers are hosted by CULTOUR, after a severe selection process.

Heritage tourism is defined by the US National Trust for Historic Preservation as travelling to experience the places and activities that authentically represent the stories and people of the past and present. It includes historic, cultural and natural resources.

Heritage and cultural travel is not necessarily seasonal and, when is organized by tour operators and travel agencies, it is highly priced travel and, therefore, a profitable one.

Often, heritage and cultural travel helps the development of destinations, venues and services which are not in position to attract business or leisure travel by reason of location, climate or lack of appropriate infrastructure. Also, it complements business and holiday travel by offering additional leisure activities such as sights, experiences, and gastronomy.

Heritage and cultural travel comprises any kind of travel composed of pre-arranged tours such as:- city breaks, archaeology, cities of art, historic venues, cultural events, indigenous culture, city or regional festivals, historic routes, religious events, religious pilgrimage, music festivals or concerts, dance, theatre, musical shows, museums, cellar visits, gastronomy, ethnic festivals, natural sciences tours, wine routes, sport events, scientific cruises, folkloric events and a long etcetera

CULTOUR consist of a one day and a half interactive forum, where participants work through individual and pre-requested appointments. To select appointments, exhibitors receive 15 days before CULTOUR commencement all hosted buyer's profiles, together with an appointments request form. Also buyers receive the exhibitor’s profiles to request meetings. Following these requests, CULTOUR schedules up to a maximum of 20 meetings, of 20 minutes each, per single or shared stand (up to 40 meetings per multiple stands and space only). Also there’s free time for additional meetings, out of those pre-scheduled. After CULTOUR, buyers and international journalists have the opportunity to experience sights or tourist services taking one of the post-tours offered by the venue and/or the exhibitors.
