The decision, announced by Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA), provided certainty and long-term stability for exhibitors, buyers, event organisers and industry stakeholders. The commitment reflected confidence in both the venue and Auckland's ability to host New Zealand's premier business events trade show.
By establishing a long-term home at the NZICC, BEIA created an opportunity to continue evolving MEETINGS while maintaining the consistency that industry participants value. The move also reinforced Auckland's position as the gateway for major conferences, conventions and exhibitions within the Asia-Pacific region.
A Landmark Year for New Zealand's Business Events Industry
MEETINGS 2026 represented much more than a trade show. It highlighted the ongoing growth and economic importance of New Zealand's business events sector.
For almost three decades, MEETINGS has connected thousands of event decision-makers, planners and organisers, helping generate billions of dollars in economic activity across the country. The event has become a vital platform for showcasing destinations, venues, accommodation providers and tourism experiences to influential buyers from around the world.
The announcement that the event would return to Auckland for the next three years also created momentum ahead of the 30th anniversary of MEETINGS, which will be celebrated in 2027.

Created by Oystar Creative and supported by the Auckland Convention Bureau, the performance titled "Kotahitanga – One People, Many Cultures" brought the city to life through music, dance and storytelling.
The performance celebrated the diverse communities that make up Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland while highlighting themes of connection, identity and inclusion. It provided delegates with an authentic introduction to the city's cultural richness and welcoming atmosphere.
The opening ceremony reflected Auckland's reputation as one of the most diverse cities in the Southern Hemisphere and demonstrated how culture plays an important role in the visitor experience.
Global Buyers Connected with New Zealand's Best Destinations
Over the two-day event, more than 600 hosted buyers from New Zealand, Australia, North America, China, India, Japan and Southeast Asia participated in thousands of business appointments.
These influential buyers met with exhibitors representing all 18 regions of New Zealand and more than 220 organisations, exploring opportunities for future conferences, incentive programmes, corporate events and exhibitions.
The event created valuable opportunities for destinations and suppliers to showcase their capabilities while building relationships with key decision-makers from international and domestic markets.
For many participants, MEETINGS 2026 provided direct access to new business opportunities and strengthened New Zealand's reputation as a leading destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.
