Uluṟu’s Field of Light Extended to 2029: A Dazzling Desert Experience Enters a New Era

Field of Light at Uluru
Australia’s most mesmerising outback experience has entered an exciting new chapter. The world-renowned Field of Light at Uluru has officially been extended until at least the end of 2029, marking a decade of breathtaking artistry, cultural storytelling, and unforgettable travel moments in the Red Centre.

A Global Icon Celebrates 10 Years in the Desert

Created by internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro, Field of Light first illuminated the desert in 2016 as a temporary installation. What was intended as a one-year exhibition has since evolved into one of Australia’s most iconic tourism attractions, welcoming more than 750,000 visitors.

Inspired by the natural phenomenon of desert wildflowers blooming after rain, the installation features over 50,000 solar-powered stems that glow across an area the size of seven football fields. Set on Aṉangu Country, the artwork offers a deeply immersive experience that connects visitors to both nature and culture.

An Immersive Experience on Aṉangu Country

Located within Ayers Rock Resort, Field of Light offers a range of curated experiences, from self-guided walks to premium dining under the stars. The installation has been carefully designed to complement the spiritual and cultural significance of the land, providing a respectful and meaningful visitor experience.

The extension to 2029 ensures travellers from around the world will continue to experience this extraordinary fusion of art and landscape for years to come.

A New Native Ingredients Menu Elevates the Experience

Field of Light Dinner
To celebrate its 10-year milestone, a new native-ingredient menu has been unveiled for the popular Field of Light Dinner and Star Pass experiences. Developed using ingredients sourced from First Nations-owned producers, the menu showcases the rich flavours of Australia’s native cuisine.

Guests can enjoy dishes such as coastal rosemary lamb cutlets, smoked kangaroo blini, barramundi with Geraldton wax coconut crust, wattleseed falafel. Desserts like desert lime macadamia cheesecake complete a culinary journey that reflects the unique landscape of the Northern Territory.

This gastronomic addition enhances the overall experience, allowing visitors to connect with the land not only visually, but also through taste.

More Than an Artwork: A Cultural Journey

Field of Light is just one part of a broader cultural offering at Uluṟu. Visitors can also experience Wintjiri Wiru, a spectacular drone and light show sharing an ancient Mala story, and Sunrise Journeys, a dawn experience combining lasers, light, and storytelling created with Aṉangu artists.

Together, these experiences create a deeper understanding of the region’s heritage, blending contemporary technology with ancient traditions.

Why Field of Light at Uluṟu is a Must-Visit Experience

Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning to witness its evolution, Field of Light offers a magical experience that lingers long after the lights fade into the desert night.
