Three Things To Know About... GLENCOE

This month we shine a light on one of the areas explored by Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish in their new docu-series, Men in Kilts (available for viewing on Amazon Prime). The two heartthrobs take a road trip across Scotland, tackling new adventures from sword fighting to tandem cycling. To prepare for the show’s release, learn a bit about the beautiful Glencoe and see why it should be part of your own future road trip.

Did you know… Glencoe is a village within Glen Coe - a Scottish Glen, or narrow valley, that formed after a volcano erupted roughly 420 million years ago. Follow the Glen Coe Geotrail to learn about how glaciers and fiery explosions carved out the glen's rugged mountain peaks.

...Men in Kilts won’t be Glencoe’s first moment of fame. The village is also the backdrop for Braveheart, Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban, and James Bond's Skyfall.

...Adventurers will revel in Glencoe! It's the perfect place for skiing and snowboarding, rock-climbing, and mountain biking. For those who like to keep it more casual there are nearby beaches, easy hiking and wildlife spotting.
