This splendid natural area is still relatively untouched by humans, where you can observe the cranes in winter.
There are many dedicated viewpoints and feeding stations where you can see these spectacular birds dance, often in pairs, with choreographed dips and jumps.
The native Ainu people call these majestic birds Sarurun Kamuy, or “spirits of the marshlands.”
