Gouda Things Come for Those Who Wait – High Cheese is Back and Better Than Ever

The Westin Melbourne's ever-popular High Cheese is back and better than ever. In collaboration with premier cheesemonger Anthony Femia of Maker & Monger, the cult classic offering will see us through the colder months and can be enjoyed in the elegant surrounds of The Westin's Lobby Lounge or for the first time ever, in the comfort of your own home.

For those wanting to re-create the High Cheese experience at home, a new take-away option is available. For $189, you can pick up a High Cheese at Home Hamper for two, including all the sweet and savoury cheesy treats, designed to be placed on a special high tea stand you can self-assemble. Paired with a 1.5 litre sack of Scarlet & Clove Mulled Wine from neighbourhood friends at Bar Clara and a Maker & Monger tote, it's the perfect at home foodie experience.

“I'm so happy to be bringing this much-loved concept back again for its third iteration. In these unusual times we're also thrilled to be able to offer people the chance to try High Cheese at home with our new hamper option”, says Executive Chef of The Westin, Michael Greenlaw.

Savoury temptations on the menu this year include baked Le Conquerant Camembert studded with thyme, garlic and served with crusty sourdough; Roquefort and cognac dip with poached muscatels and spiced house-made crackers; L'Artisan Grand Fleuri layered brie with Victorian black truffle and crème fraiche, just to name a few.

“I'm so excited that this year's High Cheese could coincide with Victorian truffle season, as it truly is a match made in heaven with the L'Artisan Grand Fleuri layered brie” says Anthony Femia of Maker & Monger.

For something sweet, cheese lovers can enjoy a classic Basque cheesecake, beurre noisette madeleines, and Yarra Valley Dairy curd Fontainebleau with Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz gin and preserved cherries.

High Cheese is $70 per person and also includes free-flowing Vittoria Coffee blends, Jing Tea herbal infusions and hot chocolate. Matched wines are available by the glass or bottle and include the Scarlet & Clove mulled wine, Moët & Chandon, and a variety of Victorian whites and reds.

If you walk away wanting more, all the delicious cheese varieties featured in High Cheese are available for purchase from Maker & Monger at the Prahran Market.

High Cheese will be available daily in The Westin Melbourne Lobby Lounge from 11am – 8pm, with their seasonal High Tea offering also available daily from 11am – 4pm.
