Marriott International today announced it has signed agreements with Saracen Properties and Security Capital Australia, to debut Westin Hotels & Resorts in Margaret River.

The Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa is a joint development between Saracen Properties and Security Capital Australia, two of Western Australia's leading property developers and investors. Their vision will be brought to life by Architects, Christou Design Group, whose low impact design will complement one of Western Australia's truly iconic coastal locations.

“Saracen Properties and Security Capital Australia have had a long association with Margaret River and the South West region. The opportunity to partner with Marriott to develop a world class Westin Resort within the heart of the Margaret River region is an opportunity just too good to pass up.” said Jason Potalivo, Development Director, Saracen Properties. “Despite the tourism industry currently going through the toughest of times right now, we know it will come roaring back and the appeal of visiting unique natural regions like Margaret River and the South West will be greater than it ever was.”

“The Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa, when opened, will set a new benchmark for hospitality excellence in Margaret River. Located on the southern headland of Gnarabup Beach, the resort will be renowned for its uninterrupted views over the Indian Ocean and one of Western Australia's most dramatic coastlines featuring numerous world class surf breaks. With direct access to the famous Cape to Cape walking trail, nearby national forests and ancient caves there is no shortage of nature experiences. The site is located in the heart of the Margaret River Region which features world class wineries as well as an abundance of premium food produce and a thriving arts community.

When opened, it is expected to feature 120 guestrooms, including 45 spacious suites, featuring sweeping views, as well as the iconic Heavenly® Bed and invigorating Heavenly® Bath experience.

An ideal setting for functions, the hotel will boast more than 400 square meters of meeting and event space with pre-function area and a separate entrance.

“Expanding the Westin brand into the Margaret River region is important strategically, as the city is enjoying great growth and is not showing any signs of slowing down. Visitor numbers are at a record high and are on track to increase by 5.1 percent in the next ten years1, as people seek out the beautiful beaches, world-renowned wineries and beautiful scenery that the South West Region is famed for,” said Sean Hunt, Area Vice President, Marriott International, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. “When opened, The Westin Margaret River Resort & Spa is set to complement the currently operating Westin Perth located in the Perth CBD as the ideal Perth City-Margaret River itinerary bookend for travelers.”

The project will immediately create local opportunities with more than 300 jobs on and off-site during construction. Once the Westin Margaret River Resort and Spa is operational it will generate over 100 hotel jobs and provide ongoing benefit to local service providers through sourcing of premium local produce.
