Kawazu Cherry Blossoms in japan

When people think of hanami, or cherry blossom viewing parties, they generally think of the blossoms of the Someiyoshino cherry that bloom in April.

But, do you know about the Kawazu cherry that blooms slightly earlier?

These trees that bloom in Kawazu of Shizuoka’s Kamo District can be viewed by taking a simple 10-minute walk from Kawazu Station.

The blossoms of these cherry trees are larger than the Yoshino, with a characteristically more vibrant pink color.

Every day from 10th February to 10th March 2020, around 150 food stalls will line the streets of Kawazu, and lights illuminate the trees’ blossoms at night.

Don’t forget to bundle up as the temperatures are still cold during this period.
