Cruise & Maritime Voyages champions Australian domestic travel in new 2020-21 Season

Vasco da Gama
In its second season, Vasco da Gama will make compelling domestic destinations even more accessible to Australians with the ship’s new ports of call including Darwin and Port Arthur, while a visit to Geelong will be a first for the cruise line. The ship will also return to unique cruising destinations such as Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia and Esperance in the South West, offering travellers a chance to experience parts of Australia they may not have considered before.

“Our new season on Vasco da Gama will really shine the light on domestic cruising for Australians, as we have found that many of our Australian guests are passionate about exploring their own backyard,” says Managing Director of CMV Australia, Dean Brazier.

“At CMV, we have a high number of repeat guests, so we want to ensure that we are providing them with new, diverse destinations and varied itineraries each season within Australia and also across Asia. We offer short-break domestic cruises, local extended escapes and exotic cruises close to home.

“These new itineraries allow our guests to immerse themselves in the wildlife and nature of the Kimberley and Northern Territory, delve into the rich colonial histories and breathtaking landscapes of Tasmania, or enjoy a day exploring the relaxed coastal towns of Victoria.

“Vasco da Gama will homeport out of Adelaide and Fremantle, giving travellers the opportunity to explore some very distinctive destinations in SA and WA.”

Vasco da Gama will also host guests on board for some exciting festive cruises, which have proven to be extremely popular in the 2019/20 season, including a 10-night Christmas Cruise to Hobart from Adelaide visiting the stunning, rugged coastlines of Tasmania. This cruise will visit the world-class food and wine regions of Tasmania as well as the beautiful coastline of Victoria, and prices start from $1,485 per person twin share (Guest 1 from $2,969 with Guest 2 FREE).

“We are delighted to be welcoming the Vasco da Gama to Geelong as part of the 2020-21 season for the first time,” says Brett Ince, Executive Director of Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine.

“Visitors will have the opportunity to explore our clever and creative city, experience our world class wineries and coastal landscapes and take advantage of our proximity to the Great Ocean Road.”

In addition, Vasco da Gama will cruise Sydney to Adelaide via Melbourne, allowing East Coast guests to take only one flight. Prices start from $535 per person twin share (Guest 1 from $1,069 with Guest 2 FREE). Other highlight voyages include a 14-night trip along the North West coast of Australia from Fremantle to Singapore visiting Geraldton, Broome, Darwin, Bali, and Java, and a 7-night Southern Explorer cruise, which will head from Adelaide to Melbourne, Burnie, Portland and Port Lincoln before heading back to Adelaide.

Those wanting an immersive cultural journey through Asia can also take a 15-night Singapore roundtrip voyage, exploring Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Prices start from $1,995 per person twin share (Guest 1 from $3,989 with Guest 2 FREE).

“Our short-break domestic cruises in particular have always been very popular for Australians,” continues Mr Brazier. “Many travellers enjoy the opportunity to take a week or so off and explore new areas within Australia, while also experiencing the wonderful facilities on board our ships.

“Some of our voyages within Australia are just two-nights long, so travellers may not even need to take a day off work in order to take a relaxing cruise to world-class destinations.

“In addition, with our Buy One Get Free early booking special, short cruises like our 3-night New Year’s Indulgence cruise provide fantastic value at just $540 per person [Guest 1 from $1,079 with Guest 2 FREE].

“No matter the length of the cruise, we’re proud to offer an intimate atmosphere on board all of our ships, which keeps our guests coming back.”

Vasco da Gama
Feedback from guests recently on board Vasco da Gama for her Singapore to London maiden voyage has been extremely positive, with guests particuarly enjoying the luxurious facilities in the Jade Wellness Spa, the variety of cuisine onboard and the flexible open-seating dining arrangements.

Vasco da Gama also provides a great opportunity for guests to “go it alone” with 40 cabins for solo travellers, guest meet-ups and a ship full of like-minded guests and friendly staff. Guests can get a taste of Vasco da Gama when she arrives in Australia for her first CMV season this December and enjoy her warm and personable atmosphere for themselves.
