As part of Lendlease's partnership with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Yeppoon was selected as the program's location to provide employees with a unique opportunity to learn about the impacts and threats to the Southern region of the Great Barrier Reef. Eight programs will be held each year over the next four years.
The program will see employees collaborate with local community groups including the Darumbal and Woppaburra people, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Livingstone Shire Council, Fitzroy Basin Association and High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm.
Approximately 1,000 employees will work with local and Indigenous communities on projects to help build the economic sustainability of the Capricorn Coast region; from enhancing the existing capabilities of the local community, to improving facilities and providing skills and training to community members.
Lendlease's most recent Springboard Tasman Peninsula program in 2018 generated over $20 million in social and economic outcomes for Lendlease employees, local community volunteers and businesses.
Lendlease Foundation was established in 1983 and delivers health and wellbeing programs and initiatives to approximately 13,000 Lendlease employees globally. For more than 60 years, Lendlease has strived to create places that generate better economic, social and environmental outcomes for everyone.
