World-class surfing will return to Manly Beach this summer, with Member for Manly James Griffin announcing that a brand new event, the Vissla Sydney Pro, will debut in February 2018.
The event, which will combine a men’s and women’s World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 6,000 with a WSL Pro Junior event, was secured by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
“I’m proud to welcome the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro event to Manly, it will be a fantastic event and I’m delighted that our community will continue to enjoy pro surfing,” Mr Griffin said.
“Importantly, not only will the event bring the best international surfers to Manly, but our local junior talent will have an opportunity to shine. I look forward to working with the WSL, Surfing NSW, Destination NSW and Northern Beaches Council to ensure we develop a sustainable event.”
The Vissla Sydney Pro will be held at Manly Beach from 24 February – 4 March, 2018.
