Business - Investment Tourists flock to Phu Quoc

Bangkok Airways launched its first direct flight from Bangkok to the resort island of Phu Quoc on Sunday, becoming the first airline to fly directly to the island from Thailand.

Flights are scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and take about 1 hour 45 minutes.

Britain’s TUI Airways has also launched charter flights from Britain to Phu Quoc from November 1, while Italian leisure airline Neos has scheduled its first flight from Milan to Phu Quoc in December.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in southern Viet Nam, Phu Quoc received 2.8 million visitors in the first nine months of this year, well above the target of 1.8 million set at the beginning of this year.
