Thua Thien - Hue receives over one million of foreign visitors

The central province of Thua Thien - Hue welcomed 2.78 million visitors in the first nine months of the year, including 1.075 million of foreign arrivals.

These numbers account for 38.67% of total visitors to the city and represent an increase of 31.29% against the same period last year.

Visitors from the Republic of Korea take the lead, making up 26% of total foreign visitors to Hue City.

Deputy Director of Thua Thien - Hue Department of Tourism, Le Huu Minh, said the department plans to invite Korean experts to attend upcoming meetings to discuss orientations for local travel companies in the city.

Mr. Minh emphasized that Korean visitors are considered high-quality tourists. Most of them choose 4-5 star hotel accommodation during their stay in Hue.

The increase in the number of visitors was attributed to the opening of the Imperial Palace at night recently. In the first nine months of the year, Hue Monuments Conservation Centre welcomed 2.4 million visitors, representing an increase of 18.55% (foreign arrivals saw a rise of 26%).

In addition, the centre has offered discounted tickets to visit other historical relics in the city and organized royal music performances.

In mid-September 2017, the provincial department of tourism and Traveloka Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding on tourism promotion.

Thua Thien - Hue and Vietnam Airlines have also signed an agreement to elevate the image of the city as a world destination.
