NYC Restaurant Week is the first dining program of its kind, established by Tim Zagat and Joe Baum as a four-day lunch dining promotion during the 1992 Democratic National Convention, coined “NY92.” The program included just under 100 participating restaurants, in which 12 remain current participants. Following the success of the summer 1992 season, the program has continued to flourish and evolve in New York City, and has inspired similar dining concepts in destinations both nationally and internationally.
