From 24 to 28 May 2017, the 7th Southern Land Cuisine Festival with the participations of nearly 40 units and 70 booths of cuisine specialties from the regions of Viet Nam will take place in Dam Sen Cultural Park (3 Hoa Binh Street, District 11, Ho Chi Minh City).
The Southern Cuisine Festival is an annual event held to promote the unique culinary features of Viet Nam and also the South to international and domestic visitors.
This year’s festival introduces more than 250 special dishes and 100 kinds of typical sweet soups and cakes of the Southern land with 3 culinary styles of Sai Gon cuisine, Central – Central Highlands cuisine and South East – South West cuisine.
The highlight of the 7th Southern Land Cuisine Festival is the space of “Sai Gon past and present” street food with 2 main themes of “Returning to childhood” and “Modern integration”. With theme “Returning to childhood”, visitors can enjoy dishes reminding childhood memories such as banh trang nuong (grilled rice paper), keo bong (candy floss), etc. The theme “Modern integration” introduces dishes from other countries in the world such as takoyaki grilled octopus cake (Japan), tteokbokki spicy rice cake (South Korea), milk tea (Thailand), etc.
In the framework of the festival, there are also many responding activities such as “Southern delicious dishes” contest, the contest of fruit plastic art, reappearance of market of clean agricultural products; performance of Cham ethnic culture, Don ca tai tu (Southern music and song), etc.
