BLUES ON BROADBEACH IS NEXT WEEK – EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Blues on Broadbeach is one of the largest free music festivals in Australia, and this year it is boasting a huge line-up of almost 70 local and international stars. More than 160,000 visitors will flock from both Australia and overseas to the stunning Broadbeach foreshore, to enjoy the music, food, drink and fun that the festival offers. Here is everything that will be happening in the precinct over the four day festival.

Free Festival Shuttle

Sponsored by Pacific Fair Shopping Centre & The Star Gold Coast, the festival shuttle is free to all patrons, and will be running Friday May 19 to Sunday May 21, between 9:00am and 7:00pm. The route will include stops at the Gold Coast Highway (Victoria Park), The Star Gold Coast, and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. With performances at both venues over the festival weekend, be sure to jump on board so you don’t miss a moment.

The Bus has an incredible history – the stunning red double decker is part of a fleet of three, and is in actual fact a 1972 Australian Leyland Atlantean and was originally one of the 1970's Sydney transport fleet, painted in the original blue and cream.

She spent the next 25 years moving around the country before residing in Tasmania as part of the Hobart sightseeing fleet; hence her nickname 'Hobart'.

After her purchase she drove across Tasmania at a top speed of 55kms per hour to Devonport, to catch the ferry to Melbourne, and then through the night to 200kms out of Sydney. It was the next morning, 50kms south of Sydney that a massive semi-trailer doing 100kms rear ended her!

Remarkably, no-one was badly hurt, but as the motor is in the back of the bus, the beautiful new purchase was a mess and the motor irreparable. The next year and a half was spent rebuilding her and getting her back on the road; she is the fastest bus in the fleet and she’s on her way to Blues on Broadbeach!
