WHO’S WHO OF COOKING WORLD SET TO OFFER A TASTE OF PORT

Port Douglas’ premier foodie event Taste Port Douglas has ascended to another level with the announcement today of the presenting chefs who will bring the region’s produce to the national culinary table.

Event director Reina Patrick said she was excited to announce the line up, which included some of Australia’s leading chefs, such as Colin Fassnidge, Massimo Mele, Ian Curley and Ben O’Donoghue, who are all returning to the Taste event for the second time.

They will be joined by other prominent names in the industry including Matt Kemp, Adrian Richardson, Daniel Wilson, Adam D’Sylva, and Alastair Maclead.

In total there will be 14 presenting celebrity chefs from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane who will be cooking alongside some of Tropical North Queensland’s best chefs including Spencer Patrick of Harrisons Restaurant and Bar, and Bucci Ristorante in Port Douglas, and Nick Holloway of NuNu’s in Palm Cove.

Running over three days from August 21-23 , Mrs Patrick said the expanded format of Taste Port Douglas offered a dynamic long weekend filled with a number of new and different events spanning from Palm Cove to Port Douglas.

“The idea of Taste Port Douglas is to shine the spotlight on fresh local produce, while offering some of the most unique food experiences in the country.

“There will be celebrity chef dinners at Port Douglas and Palm Cove, food experiences and the two-day Taste Port Douglas celebration of all things food,” she added.

However, Mrs Patrick believed the real fun laid in the educational opportunity to learn from some of the country’s most talented food experts.

“We will be holding exclusive masterclasses for the first time during the event. These masterclasses are always a hit, as those present get to cook alongside the chefs, enjoy the food and continue to build on their food knowledge.”

Mrs Patrick’s vision for the event is to put Port Douglas firmly on the national food scene, and ensure it is part of country’s food conversation on a regular basis.
