Gold Coast Secures Largest Ever Business Event - to Host Major Chinese Company Infinitus

One of China's largest personal health care companies Infinitus has chosen the Gold Coast for its week-long incentive program, expected to generate more than $50 million in delegate expenditure.

Gold Coast Business Events collaborated with Tourism and Events Queensland and Tourism Australia to beat national and international competition for one of Australia's biggest Business Events.

The Gold Coast will host approximately 8,000 top performers from Infinitus China in May 2018. The six-day incentive program will be designed to inspire company delegates.

Gold Coast Tourism CEO Martin Winter said the Infinitus China program represented the largest Business Events group ever secured for the Gold Coast.

“This is a significant win for the Gold Coast and we look forward to showcasing the very best of our Australian lifestyle to delegates,” he said.

“The Gold Coast is a destination in high demand with proven expertise in hosting Business Events that deliver extraordinary experiences. The city has a winning and diverse combination of pristine beaches, spectacular hinterland and exceptional infrastructure.”

“Our Business Events team successfully demonstrated the city's world-class offerings, and proved its capability to host a program that will inspire Infinitus delegates.”

Queensland Minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones said securing this event offered a great opportunity to showcase the Gold Coast and the state as a premier tourism and events destination.

“The Infinitus China program will bring thousands of Chinese business delegates to Queensland and showcase our diverse tourism experiences to the growing China market,” Ms Jones said.

“This is a great example of collaboration between Tourism and Events Queensland, Tourism Australia and Gold Coast Tourism to secure a major business event for the State and grow our tourism industry.”

A spokesperson for Infinitus said company representatives were looking forward to working closely with Gold Coast Tourism and Tourism Australia to create a memorable experience for delegates.

“We are truly amazed at the endless choices we have to help us put together a one-of-a-kind business travel incentive holiday for our delegates. Already, we are very impressed by the attentiveness of Tourism Australia and Gold Coast Tourism,” said Mr Jacky Hu, General Manager, Infinitus (China) Company Ltd.

Business Events are a high yield segment for Australia; with Gold Coast Tourism securing a record 69 event wins in 2015-2016. The combined result of international and national events resulted in an economic contribution of $71 million to the city.
