The next new tour around Los Angeles – Lose the Tour Guide.

The best way to experience Los Angeles is to park the car and get up close and personal, but in this sprawling mecca, where to start? Bikes & Hikes LA, the tour company that gets people moving throughout LA, to the beach, movie stars' homes and the Hollywood sign, has successfully launched the next generation of touring – A private tour without the guide.

The new GPS self-guided bike tour features a GPS-enabled device with a portable speaker attached to a bike, where a virtual guide leads guests through the must-see parts of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Bel Air on bikes and at their own pace. Visitors explore famous film locations, the houses of the rich and famous, Greystone Mansion, Rodeo Drive, West Hollywood's fashion district as well the popular celebrity hang-outs and now marijuana stores which became legal for recreation as of November 10th.

Bikes & Hikes is the first company on the west coast to offer the tour. “GPS guided tours are the future of sightseeing tours and we're thrilled to be at the forefront of the latest trends in the tourism industry - high tech and sustainability is where it's at, ”said Danny Roman, CEO of the six year-old company. "This product enables full freedom to take a private tour when it's most convenient for the visitor. We are open seven days a week and alhough reservations are encouraged, they are not required, just come on by.”

Riders are equipped with the latest technology in GPS touring, a 21 speed high end bicycle, safety helmet and lock. Best of all, riders can follow the tour at their own pace. “If they see something cool in a shop window, want to stop for a taste, a drink, a marijuana joint, or even nod off in a sunny spot, riders can just lock up the bike, take advantage of the scene, and tour at their own pace,” Roman says.

Rates are $55 per person. The tour takes about 2 ½ hours, but riders are invited to keep the bike all day.

The company continues to offer guided tours as well. Two of their most popular tours is their Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike and The LA IN A DAY bike adventure. To view the full list of tours available, visit: http://bikesandhikesla.com/
