Opening this weekend, ‘Where Sky meets Earth’ brings a new energy to the story of Aboriginal culture, giving context to the stories of greatness, good and bad, sky heroes and ‘black devils’ carved in stone and painted in caves.
Importantly, these artworks reflect a local style rather than the dot-art or cross hatching of central Australia or the top end. The images and carvings employ the patterns and symbols of NSW and more specifically of the Darug people.
Aboriginal Culture describes the place where we grow, live and dream as ‘Where Sky meets Earth.’
This is contemporary Aboriginal Art; modern, vibrant and powerful.
