- Manly is buzzing with activity, unveiling hidden gems that lie just off the beaten track. Some great new foodie destinations have opened in time for summer, including Ora Organic Cafe, hole in the wall café The Woolshed (also home to Donny’s bar at night), wine and cheese bar Cured Manly, superfood café Bare Naked Bowls and sushi and cocktail bar Sunset Sabi
- South-western Sydney has welcomed a new luxury bar, grill restaurant and craft brewery at Rydges Campbelltown. OTIS Grill Bar and Brewery is a sophisticated new dining and bar concept with a premium grill restaurant, sleek bar and outdoor terrace. The hip craft brewery offers exciting new brews sure to impress beer lovers
- The North Coast’s much-loved Forster Bakehouse received two gold, three silver and 10 bronze medals in this year’s Official Great Aussie Pie Competition. The local bakehouse won gold for Best Plain Sausage Roll in NSW and Best Gourmet Sausage Roll in NSW for its pork, apple and fennel creation
- Newtown’s newest burger joint, Jacks Newtown, has created quite a stir since it opened last month. Reminiscent of the popular American Shake Shack burgers, Jacks Newtown serves just two types of burgers, a cheeseburger with optional bacon and onion, and a vegetarian burger. Crinkle cut chips, milkshakes and sugar-reduced sodas round out the simple but flavour-packed menu
- Sydney’s burger obsession continues with the recent opening of the Rockpool Group’s Burger Project in the MLC Centre. Diners can choose from 10 different burgers, fries, ice cream desserts, shakes and thick shakes, house sodas and a small list of hand-selected wines and beers. For those keen to pick up dinner on the way home, online orders can be made after 3pm via the Burger Project website
- Murray’s Craft Brewing Co in Port Stephens has won a gold medal for its locally-brewed flagship beer, Angry Man Pale Ale, at this year’s Craft Beer Awards, run by the Craft Beer Industry Association. In the past month, the brewing company has won three gold medals and has a 100% medalling success rate for all beers entered in the past two awards programs
- The latest addition to Chippendale’s exciting new precinct, Kensington Street, is the Asian-inspired café and coffee house Glider KS. Located in one of the street’s heritage-listed terraces, Glider KS offers a menu featuring Thai-style dishes and Single Origin Roasters coffee.
