"The Sum of Us" Play Coming to Tamworth

The Sum of Us is a bitter-sweet comedy that will be coming to Tamworth, NSW, Australia this September. It revolves around the devoted and loving relationship between widower, Harry, his homosexual son, Jeff, and their individual searches for a partner. The widowed father is searching for "Miss Right," and his son is searching for "Mr. Right."

The play illuminates the eternal human need to transcend our separateness, to embark upon the difficult but necessary road to an accepting and loving connection with others. There is no overt 'message' in the film, just a very natural, entertaining story-telling. A word of caution – the play contains strong language and adult themes.

The play was first performed in 1990 in America and in 1992 in Australia. The 1994 Australian movie was set in Sydney and stared Jack Thompson, Russel Crowe and John Polson.

The Sum of Us stars one of Australia’s top actors John Jarratt, known for his movies  Picnic At Hanging Rock and Wolf Creek and his TV shows Better Homes & Gardens, and McLeod's Daughter's.

It is directed by Denis Moore and also stars Patrick Harvey, Thomas Conroy and Nell Feeney  The Set Design is by Shaun Gurton, Costume Design by Adrienne Chisholm, and Lighting Design by Richard Vabre.

The Sum of Us will be presented on Friday 2 September 2011 at 8pm and Saturday 3 September 2011 at 2pm and 8pm at the Tamworth Capitol Theatre, Level 1, Centrepoint Arcade, Peel Street, Tamworth. Tickets cost $15 - $45 and can be booked online at http://www.capitoltheatretamworth.com.au/
