Chinese investors are hoping to build a $500 million Chinese theme park at Warnervale, NSW, Australia
They are looking at a 15ha site of vacant land owned by the Wyong Shire. It is behind the Woolworths Warehouse and within 500m of the F3 Freeway, which links Sydney, the capital city of NSW, and Newcastle, the largest city in the Hunter Valley..
At its meeting this week the Wyong Shire Council confirmed its support in principle for the project and will enter into a general co-operation agreement with proponents, the Australia China Cultural Foundation. If the project goes ahead it will be the largest theme park in NSW outside the Sydney region and have enormous economic benefits for the Central Coast.
The development would consist of a major walled gateway similar to the Forbidden City in Beijing, a museum, pagoda and a village consisting of 33 small town blocks with each block containing shops, restaurants and services representative of each of China’s 33 provinces. The museum itself would be a Ming Dynasty, 300-year-old building that would be dismantled in China and rebuilt at Warnervale. Another major item would be a Buddhist temple with a giant Buddha statue
