Hunter Valley Vintage Truck Muster

The Third Hunter Valley Vintage Truck Muster will take place on 14th-15th May 2011 at The Richmond Vale Railway Museum in NSW Australia. It is 110 km (about one and a half hours drive) from Muswellbrook, or 140km away from Sydney.

The Hunter Valley Vintage Truck Muster is a gathering of all types of commercial vehicles over 25 years of age and will include trucks, buses, utes, vans, military vehicles, fire vehicles and more in a variety of sizes, makes and conditions.

There will also be a display of historic Howard tractors and farm machinery.

Mini Thomas will be running on both days so little ones (and not so little ones) can enjoy a ride behind everyone’s favourite tank engine.

The Richmond Vale Railway Museums' annual Model Exhibition will also be held on the same days indoors and offers the visitor an opportunity to see a large variety of model railways in many different scales.

The model railways are on display at both the Richmond Main and Pelaw Main former collieries and visitors can travel between the two sites on a full size train, a unique experience offered nowhere else in Australia.

In the Entry Building you will find an N gauge layout housed in an antique TV cabinet, the Rixs Creek layout, GM World [an industrial town setting], N, OO, O and G gauge layouts.

Outside the entry building you will find miniature train rides, a Model Truck trade stall and a static display of model boats.

The Mining Museum Building holds ‘How to construct’ and ‘How to build’ Clinics, plus mining artefacts.

Take a trip on a full sized train to Pelaw Main. These will be running throughout the day (prams can travel as well, but in the guards van, and you can collect them at the end of your journey). At Pelaw Main a stroll up the hill will bring you to the Drawing Office to see displays of trams, electric and O gauge trains. Beside the Drawing Office is the old Main Office building, where you’ll find Naval Memorabilia as well as model layouts.

To add to these  exciting two days there is the Richmond Vale Railway Museums historic train rides, mining equipment displays, mining museum and guided tours of the historic mine and power station sites.

Steak and sausage sandwiches will be on sale at the canteen, as well as drinks, ice creams, sandwiches, sausage rolls and pies. Picnic areas are always available for the use of visitors.

Gates open at 10am and close at 4pm, and the entry fees are- Adults: $15.00, Concession: $10.00; Children (5-15): $7.00, and Children Under 5 free. All full size train rides are free after entry.
