Capella Singapore Unveils Refreshed Interiors for Capella Manor and Colonial Manors

Capella Manor
Capella Singapore, the flagship property of Capella Hotels and Resorts on Sentosa Island, is delighted to announce refreshed interiors for their Capella Manor and Colonial Manors. Each meticulously styled manor serves as a private retreat, featuring bespoke furnishings, curated artwork, and thoughtfully crafted spaces that inspire both intimacy and grandeur. Designed as standalone bungalows reminiscent of a private residence, each manor presents its own design aesthetic, complete with three ensuite bedrooms, separate living, dining, and study spaces, a private terrace, and pool.

Located on the fringes of the resort and enveloped by the lush rainforest of Sentosa Island, Capella Manor has been artfully redesigned by Melbourne-based interior decorator, Simone Haag. The two Colonial Manors have undergone a design refresh by Matthew Shang Design Office (MSDO) that honors their storied historical origins.

Capella Manor: Curated Comfort Meets Contemporary Chic with a Homely Touch

Renowned Australian interior decorator Simone Haag’s refresh of Capella Manor elevates the contemporary chic residence with a unique sense of character, enriched by Asian-inspired fabrics, artwork, lighting, and thoughtfully contextual styling. Offering 576 sqm of living space, this manor is arranged over two floors, with king-size or twin beds across three ensuite bedrooms, living and dining areas, and an outdoor terrace with a spacious, private lap pool set in luxuriant surrounds.

Simone Haag shared, “Over many years, we have established a growing network of artists, makers, antique specialists, vintage traders, and designers that spans the globe. Drawing from this treasure trove, we can curate projects unlike anything seen before. Projects that are entirely contextual and highly considerate of the end user’s experience. At Capella Singapore, an evolving design and procurement methodology has shaped a meticulously layered manor where vintage pieces have been woven with custom contemporary rugs, furniture, and commissioned artworks. This invaluable network brings agility, allowing for some beautiful outcomes that contribute to the manor’s ambience and memorability.”

The manor’s neutral palette, subtly patterned wallpapers and fabrics, and tropical foliage mirror the 30 acres of lush landscaped grounds that host Capella Singapore. In the living room, a Pelle Lure Lantern casts soft leafy shadows across the space, while a custom rug in earthy tones of olive, off-white, and rich brown in a free-flowing linear pattern evokes a sense of travel and topography.

Simone Haag pulls the space together seamlessly with handpicked furniture that tells a story blending a restful retreat with a curated narrative. Sculptural vignettes in pewter, ceramics, rare timbers, and glass create the authenticity of a private guesthouse, while storied vintage pieces, such as the pair of 1930s Swedish Carved Monk Chairs and woven Peanut chairs provide focal points that exude individuality.

Colonial Manors: A Tribute to Local Heritage

The transformation of the two Colonial Manors by MSDO pays homage to their past as British military quarters in the 1880s, offering a luxurious retreat steeped in history. Offering a 500 sqm spacious interior, each manor is arranged over two floors of an original heritage building and features three ensuite bedrooms with king-size or twin beds, separate living, dining, and study space, garden views, and a private pool. MSDO drew inspiration from the concept of a globetrotter’s transient dwelling and articulated the narrative by blending maps of old Singapore with timeless furnishings that transcend time and period, bringing the stories and experiences gathered from journeys around the world into the manors.

Upon entering the manor on the upper floor, guests are greeted by lush greenery and an eclectic collection of artefacts along the walkway that leads to ‘The Nest,’ a cozy living space perched away from the heart of the manor, designed with intimate gatherings and shared moments in mind. This social space is given a pop of color against the white walls of the manor, with a hand-knotted Persian rug, tropical printed cushions, and a curation of art pieces.

Nestled on the same level are the three bedrooms, with textured headboards crowning the king-size beds, and soft Roman blinds creating a sense of calm. The bathrooms bring modernity to historic charm with dark timber frames and spherical lights. Downstairs, the living and dining areas exude enduring tranquillity. The dining room takes center stage as the gathering space for the rituals of shared living. Adjacent to the dining room is ‘The Nook,’ a cozy alcove adorned with cushions and framed by soft curtains, creating a haven for unwinding. The outdoor dining area, surrounded by the lush landscape of Capella Singapore, features a barbeque, a dining table that can sit up to six, plush seating, and a canopy, framed by a private pool.

Curated Hospitality, Manor-style

Serene, calming, and radiating sophistication, the redesigned manors offer guests personalized host service by a Manor Culturist, along with bespoke turndown amenities, a fridge stocked with champagne, premium wines, refreshments, and in-manor breakfast. Families choosing to make the manor their home while in Singapore can look forward to a thoughtfully curated stay, enriched by the Manor Culturist, who is on hand to craft personalized and meaningful experiences, from a poolside picnic to dedicated babysitting services and a dim sum masterclass led by the culinary team. A range of Capella Wellness rituals, such as private yoga by the pool, the spa’s signature moon-phase treatments, and a menu of music and art therapy workshops, elevate the manors’ offerings. The vibrancy of Singapore’s history and culture can be discovered through a series of experiential activities, from heritage tours to savoring local gastronomic delights. Manor Culturists will delight in introducing manor guests to the sights, tastes, sounds, and culture of the locale.

Yngvar Stray, General Manager of Capella Singapore, says, “This redesign showcases Capella’s commitment to creating spaces that not only celebrate our heritage but also provide a warm and welcoming environment where guests can seamlessly transition their lifestyle from home to the manors. We believe in offering shared experiences that inspire and create cherished memories that will last well beyond their stay with us. By incorporating personal touches and timeless furnishings, we invite guests to immerse themselves in a tranquil retreat that feels uniquely theirs.”

A one-night stay at Capella Manor starts from SGD 30,000, while the Colonial Manor is priced from SGD 25,000 per night.
