Festival Director, Mark Duckworth says the Blues on Broadbeach team are always looking for ways to elevate the festival experience and grow their fan base.

“Blues on Broadbeach continues to build a loyal tribe of fans who make the trek across the country and from overseas every year to enjoy four epic days of live music on the Gold Coast,” said Mark.

“We wanted to enhance the festival experience for those fans, and attract new audiences as well, by offering a special ticketed experience featuring more incredible acts, this year we are stoked to showcase one of the world’s best reggae and soul live acts New Zealand’s Fat Freddy’s Drop.

“The Kurrawa Park Sunday Ticket will mean Blues on Broadbeach can continue to grow bringing more international acts to the Gold Coast for our audiences to experience and enjoy.”

Aotearoa New Zealand’s seven-piece electronic-reggae-soul act Fat Freddy’s Drop are Kurrawa Park’s inaugural headliners. Their sound is a euphoric blend of dub, reggae, soul, jazz, techno, and rhythm & blues. Performing electric genre-bending live shows since their inception in 1999, Fat Freddy’s Drop are a juggernaut and regarded as one of the world’s finest live draws.

From Fat Freddy’s Drop: “After a quiet summer deep in the studio working on a new album, we’re very excited to get out, have a stretch and a play, and connect with our Gold Coast fans. This will be a blast before getting into the final stages of finishing our album. See you at the legendary Blues on Broadbeach!”

The band will finish out 2024 touring Europe to promote their forthcoming studio album. Blues on Broadbeach will be their only Australian show this year. The festival is thrilled to be able to bring these NZ-made legends across the ditch before they head further afield.

Adding to the Kurrawa Park Sunday Ticket offering is Gold Coast’s owTijuana Cartel. The band have been called one of Australia’s most exciting live acts, taking a psychedelic, atmospheric approach to songwriting and folding in worldly sonic splashes reminiscent of the Middle East, Spain and India. Tijuana Cartel won Live Act of the Year in 2018 and 2020 at the Gold Coast Music Awards. Their style of genre fusion is unmatched, and their fiery live performances are a sight (and sound) to behold.

Sydney collective BOOMCHILD brings together RnB, electronic, hip hop, soul and funk leaning into their individuality to create something truly unique and refreshing.
