In Ichinoseki City, mochi is a culture and it can be seen at every special occasion, from celebrating harvest seasons to weddings to funerals.
The mochi culture here dates back to the samurai era, and in present day, you can sample over 300 different kinds of mochi!
A specialty is the mochi honzen, a full-course meal featuring a variety of mochi, served in soup or topped with red bean paste.
