From the grounds of Asakusa's most popular shrine Sensoji Temple to the top of TOKYO SKYTREE®, here is a fun-packed itinerary for families travelling with children on how to enjoy Asakusa's newest facilities as well as the golden oldies that have made Asakusa world-renowned.
9 AM - Drop off your luggage and enjoy the view
After your arrival in Asakusa, drop your bags off at the Asakusa Tobu Hotel which is conveniently located beside Asakusa Station. From the hotel, you can walk to the riverside and enjoy the view of the city from the SUMIDA RIVER WALK, a pedestrian bridge that opened in June 2020 adjacent to the TOBU SKYTREE Line's railway bridge. The walkway provides a faster and scenic route from Asakusa's main area to TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN – the commercial complex comprised of retail, dining, offices and Tokyo's iconic landmark - TOKYO SKYTREE.11 AM - Make a shop and coffee stop at TOKYO mizumachi
Once you cross the Sumida River, make your first stop at TOKYO mizumachi, a shopping and entertainment facility which opened in June 2020. Built underneath Tobu Railway's elevated railway tracks that connect Asakusa to TOKYO SKYTREE, TOKYO mizumachi offers a modern and stylish space along the riverside with restaurants, cafes, speciality shops and even a hotel. After browsing some of the shops, make a caffeine-stop at LATTEST MIZUMACHI & SPORTS – a café come bike store that comes equipped with a rock-climbing area as well as a large sandpit for kids to play that uses sand from Australian beaches. Let the big kids try some rock climbing and the smaller kids have a play in the sand while you sit back and enjoy some of LATTEST's in house fresh roasted coffee.2 PM - City views and Ocean critters
Your next stop is TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN, a commercial complex filled with restaurants and retail stores, also home to is the world's tallest free-standing broadcasting tower at 634-metres. After some lunch at one of the food courts or restaurants, why not explore the Sumida Aquarium. Opened in 2012 the aquarium is spread over the 5th and 6th floors of TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN with 8 different zones and a selection of 260 species – a total of over 7,000 sea creatures to wow kids and adults alike. There is also an open section of the aquarium where visitors can get up close and personal with some of the cute creatures. After dinner, check-in back at the Asakusa Tobu Hotel which opened in October 2020. While the Wa-Modern rooms have been designed in a Western-style with small twists of traditional Japanese elements. The maroon themed room has its walls painted with Hello Kitty in a kimono and gives off a slightly more mature vibe. There are three rooms of each, and each room can house up to four people.
