The 1.3 mile Devil’s Slide Trail is the only part of Hwy. 1 that is closed to cars, allowing visitors to walk and bike along some of California’s most dramatic coastline. The area is home to harbor seals, bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, northern elephant seals, and whales.

Local Artisan Shopping

Historic Main Street provides an opportunity not only for a leisurely day of shopping but also for visitors to give back to the community by supporting family-owned businesses. Unique artisan shops offer goods that can only be found locally. A sampling of businesses includes gift stores, surf shops, bookstores, art galleries, and tasting rooms. Retail businesses are open for in-store shopping at 25% of normal capacity.
