101 Best Family Travel Experiences in Australia for 2021 Revealed in New Issue of Out & About With Kids

Families planning domestic holidays will find an abundance of ideas in the summer 2020/21 issue of Out & About with Kids, out now. The magazine's cover story, 101 Best Family Travel Experiences in Australia for 2021, covers the top things to do across the country, from kid-friendly holiday parks and resorts to theme parks, tropical islands, road trips, eco-adventures, national parks, museums, festivals and authentic Indigenous tours. “With international travel still off the cards for the time being thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, we thought this story was a great way to showcase all the wonderful things you can do throughout Australia,” editor Angela Saurine said. “It includes ideas for every state and territory. We hope our readers will be as blown away as we were by how many incredible offerings there are in this great land of ours. We think it will be a great resource, especially for those planning gap years.”

The issue also includes a story about why you should travel with kids, highlighting the benefits of sparking curiosity, strengthening family bonds and helping them become more resilient, flexible, independent, confident, tolerant and understanding. It features interviews with experts including child psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg and anthropologist Dr Monty Badami, who is founder and CEO of Habitus, which offers immersive experiences to help families reconnect. With a background in social work, this is a particular passion and driving force for the magazine's publisher, Elisa Elwin.

Readers will also get to meet Australia's own Willy Wonka, thanks to our interview with hotelier Dr Jerry Schwartz, who has introduced everything from miniature trains to water parks and ice-skating rinks to his family-friendly properties, which include Paradise Resort Gold Coast and Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley. There are also stories about a post-bushfires stay at Durras Lake North Holiday Park, near Batemans Bay in NSW, and Great Keppel Island, on Queensland's Capricorn Coast.

Olympian Giaan Rooney also shares memories of her favourite family travel experiences, as does Indigenous guide Juan Walker from Walkabout Cultural Adventures in Queensland's Port Douglas-Daintree region. As well as the latest news about family-friendly accommodation, experiences and sustainability, the issue also includes a story about how to survive a road trip with kids, plus reviews of Wildlife Retreat at Taronga, Adina Apartment Hotel Brisbane and Fairmont Resort & Spa Blue Mountains, M Gallery by Sofitel.

With New Zealand and Singapore likely to be among the first countries to reopen to Australia, the magazine also includes stories about the best places for families to eat in Queenstown, while Singapore with Kids author Marianne Rogerson reveals 30 fun things to do in the Asian city-state.

Readers also have the chance to win one of ten $200 Choice Hotels gift vouchers, staying in one of the company's properties Down Under.

Out & About with Kids aims to inspire families to spend quality time together on holidays and create memories that will last a lifetime. The magazine is distributed to both consumers and travel agents with a temporarily reduced circulation during the pandemic of 8,000 printed copies, with 1.8 million digital magazines distributed via parenting website Stay at Home Mum and Bright Star Kids. The magazine also has a growing social media following, with 33,000 followers and nearly 20,000 newsletter subscribers.
