The Oboke Gorge and Koboke Gorge in Japan

Nestled within the Shikoku mountains is Oboke and Iya, a secluded region that is considered one of Japan’s three most mysterious lands.

The Oboke Gorge and nearby Koboke Gorge are narrow, steep-sided gorges that are located at the entrance to the Iya Valley, cut by the emerald rapids of the Yoshino River over millions of years.

Explore the gorges on sightseeing boats or whitewater rafting adventures, or simply enjoy the scenery from the Iya-no-Kazura Bashi, a stunning hand-made bridge made completely of vine.
