Smart Bus Shelters in Bangkok

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has launched the first Smart Bus Shelter at Rama IX intersection on the Central Plaza Grand Rama IX side. The new bus stop aims to facilitate travellers and encourage more people to use public transport.

BMA plans to renovate 350 bus stops in the first phase: 100 full-function shelters and 250 light-function shelters. The full-function shelter has an LED monitor that shows the arrival time of each bus, a CCTV, an LED monitor showing BMA information, a charging mobile system, and free Wi-Fi. The light function shelter doesn't have Wi-Fi or the LED showing BMA information.

BMA expects to renovate 200 bus stops by the end of 2020 and finish all 350 bus stops by April 2021.
