Queensland's roadmap - what you need to know

The Queensland Government has released its proposed roadmap for the easing of restrictions across the state. It is now time for tourism operators to get their COVID SAFE Plans ready and gear up to restart, with day trips up to 150km from this weekend, and overnight recreational travel planned from 12 June.

TEQ has worked closely with the Department of State Development, Tourism and Innovation, QTIC and the state’s regional tourism organisations (RTOs) throughout COVID-19 to bring you information and advice obtained from Queensland Health and the Department of Premier and Cabinet so that you can make informed business decisions. Below we have broken down the tourism-related components of the first two stages of the roadmap, with additional clarity provided by Queensland Health since Friday’s announcement.

Stage One: From 11:59pm, this Friday 15 May:
  • Recreational travel (day trips only) up to 150km within your region.
  • 10 people at any one time for dining in restaurants, cafes, pubs, registered and licensed clubs, RSL clubs and hotels (with COVID SAFE Plan). No bars or gaming.
  • Public spaces and lagoons re-opening (e.g. Southbank Parklands, Cairns, Airlie Beach) – gatherings of up to 10 people.

  • Casinos may open for dining, up to 20 people at any one time. No bars or gaming.
  • 20 people at indoor cinemas.

There's also a draft COVID SAFE checklist for dining in restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs, RSLs and Hotels.
