Set to complement the visitor experience in a destination teeming with recreational, cultural and wellness opportunities, a plethora of new and renovated hotels and resorts are expanding tourism options throughout Greater Palm Springs. More than 20 properties have recently opened, refreshed or are in progress throughout the nine-city oasis, with major hospitality brands making their debut in the destination. In the next two years, the Greater Palm Springs will add nearly 3,000 new and renovated guestrooms.
In the hot water resort city of Desert Hot Springs, the famed Two Bunch Palms—America's first carbon-neutral resort—recently completed a $2 million renovation while in Palm Springs, hoteliers have been reinvigorating iconic properties like Melvyn's Ingleside Inn and Villa Royale. The new Andaz Palm Springs opening in the uptown design district is bound to entice travelers with its full-floor spa, swim-up bar and Argentinian restaurant. Projects in the works also include a large-scale renovation of Hyatt Palm Springs, 169-room Dream Palm Springs adjacent to the Palm Springs Convention Center, and ultra mod BODE: Palm Springs that will feature suites with rooftop and ground level pools and a communal focus with customized shared spaces.
Beginning in June, the JW Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert will embark on a $50 million transformation of its 884 guestrooms, public spaces and meeting rooms. This summer, Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa will also undergo an exciting enhancement with the addition of a three-story water slide tower and lazy river, as well as upgrades to the lobby, restaurants and meeting spaces. The 560-room Renaissance Indian Wells is remodeling its lobby, bar and guestrooms. SBE Group is bringing its trendy Delano brand to Greater Palm Springs, with the development of the new luxury Delano Hotel & Residences in Indian Wells. Slated to open in 2022, the property will feature its signature 24-hour SKYBAR and outpost of the famed Katsuya restaurant.
Montage International makes a highly anticipated entry into the Greater Palm Springs market at SilverRock Resort in La Quinta with the development of the 140-room Montage La Quinta, 200-room Pendry La Quinta and residential offerings. The array of amenities and services include a Spa Montage and fitness center, dining outlets, resort pools and retail boutiques.
At the eastern end of the Coachella Valley, IHG Hotels will open the first resort in the city of Coachella. Scheduled to open in November 2019, Hotel Indigo will feature 250 casita-style accommodations, a 10,000-square-foot party pool, casita-style, and 11-acre concert venue that will host the premiere Desert Rock Fest next April 3–4.
