How to Make the Most of Hobart Eats and Beats During Dark Mofo - Your Go-to Pop-Up Guide

Hobart revels in the depths of winter as the cultural festival of Dark Mofo runs fromJune 6 until June 23. Alongside the official program, restaurants and bars host a range of pop-ups from late night dining, creative collaborations, and parties that will be talked about for some time to come. Inferno + Japanese Brunch + Anther Gin Pop Up, The Den
Friday 7 June – Tuesday 25 June
The Den presents Inferno, a mysterious world will quickly unravel as you enter and descend into the depths of hell. Their dark-inspired cocktail menu truly is 'to die for' and there will be a DJ each Friday and Saturday, as well as their weekly jazz night each Tuesday.

The Den will also host a boozy Japanese inspired brunch over the two weekends of Dark Mofo, 14-16 June and 21-23 June, available from 10am.

Anther Gin will host a pop up bar in the upstairs area of The Den. This will run on the evenings of Friday 14 June and Saturday 15 June with a ticketed masterclass held on Saturday afternoon. The pop up will showcase their latest gin release, a 'Goddess Strength' collaboration with The Den.

Botanica Bar
June 7 - 23
Botanica Bar at Salamanca Place will be running a three-week event, along the Dark Mofo theme of paint the town red. The venue will be bathed in hues of red with a specially-crafted cocktail menu and late-night specials to catch the crowds traveling to and from the Dark Mass parties. Botanica Bar will also launch their brunch menu in June, on Saturday and Sunday mornings, available from 10am -12:00pm. More information at www.botanicabar.com.au

Tiki Haven, Rude Boy
Launch Friday 7 June
During Dark Mofo Rude Boy presents, Tiki Haven, a transportation from the dark and cold to tropical warmth. Over two weeks Rude Boy has partnered with Rum Co. of Fiji and Talisker to create nights of Tiki flair with tropical drinks and outrageous entertainment.

Laphroaig Showcase, Evolve Spirits Bar

Whisky expert and Laphroaig ambassador, Dan Woolley, is hosting a series of Laphroaig masterclasses at Evolve Spirits Bar. Renowned for being a rich single malt scotch, Dan's picks from Laphroaig's award-winning whisky range will be showcased in a number of interactive sessions during Dark Mofo. The Major Masterclass is $80 per person and includes a welcome drink, a flight of eight Laphroaig whiskies, including some yet to be released samples from Islay. Bourbon Masterclass with Dan Woolley, IXL Long Bar

The IXL Long Bar on Hobart's waterfront will host Dan Woolley, the Beam-Suntory National Whisky Ambassador for a series of masterclasses. Dan will guide guests through a tasting of Jim Beam Single Barrel, Maker's Mark Private Select, Knob Creek Rye, Basil Hayden and a limited edition bourbon, not released in Australia. A range of Dark Mofo-inspired cocktails will be available at the bar for the month of June. Tickets are $35 and include a 200ml take-home bottle of Maker's Mark bourbon. The city meets the farm when Tom McHugo's collaborate with Two Metre Tall Brewery. Every day from midday, Jane and Ashley will bring their Farm Bar to the Tom McHugo's back bar. They will be operating all six of their hand pumps with genuine wild and mixed culture fermented ales and ciders, including never-before-seen pints. Institut Polaire is hosting Disco Fuyu, a series of martini sessions during Dark Mofo. With fuyu meaning 'winter' in Japanese, try a warming Sake-tini, try the Süd Polaire Antarctic dry martini or go dark with a Mofo-tini. Franklin and Wax'o Paradiso present Black Velvet
Sunday 16 June
Franklin restaurant and Wax'o Paradiso team up to present a day of outlandish Gluttony and Gambol with a new concept marrying food, wine, and dance. Guest chefs Adam James of Rough Rice and Ali Currey-Voumard (formerly The Agrarian Kitchen) join forces to create a feast for the senses. Franklin Bottle Tops '19 is on again this Dark Mofo, with Australia's most thought-provoking small producers of wine, beer and spirits on offer. It's a partnership between Franklin Restaurant and Tom McHugo's pub with leading makers and importers of artisan wines on tasting. Midnight Ramen, Bar Wa Izakaya

Bar Wa Izakaya, in North Hobart will be celebrating Dark Mofo with Midnight Ramen. Pop in for a steaming bowl of ramen before heading out, or as a quick snack on the way home. Aloft with Lucy Liu, Aloft Restaurant
Thursday 20 June and Friday 21 June, 9pm – 2am
After their usual service from 5:30pm – 8pm, Aloft at Brooke Street Pier welcomes Melbourne restaurant Lucy Liu who will take over the kitchen until the early hours of the morning.
