Waltzing Matilda Centre Grand Opening

Waltzing Matilda Centre
The new Waltzing Matilda Centre will be unveiled in an official opening on Friday 20th April 2018. The public will have the opportunity to enter the new $23million building and its state of the art gallery which will house the exhibition Cream: four decades of Australian Art.

After it’s devastating destruction by fire in 2015, the newly rebuilt $23 million Waltzing Matilda Centre will be the pride of Western Queensland once more, as the journey of Waltzing Matilda turns another chapter.

Following the official opening of the Centre celebrations will be marked with Winton’s Way Out West Fest: Celebrating Waltzing Matilda – a four day ticketed music festival. The concerts will be held at the Eric Lenton Memorial Sportsground on Friday and Saturday night. Friday nights lineup includes: Pierce Brothers, Sheppard, Lee Brice, Kip Moore; and the Black Sorrows. Both Lee Brice & Kip Moore are US Country stars. Saturdays concert includes: John Williamson, Busby Marou, Jessica Mauboy, The Living End; and Russell Morris.

On Sunday a recovery concert will be held at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Jump Up location feat Busby Marou and a BBQ available for purchase. Entertainment will commence at all local pubs and clubs across Winton each day from 12:30pm until 4:30pm.
