Farewell to Games but legacy lives on

Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games
The biggest event in Australia this decade, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, may have wrapped up, passing the baton to Birmingham, but now its legacy begins to take shape.

Over 11 days, the Games boasted more than 1.2 million ticket sales, attracted an expected 670,000 visitors across four event cities and millions of viewers worldwide, who witnessed incredible sporting feats with repeated backdrops of iconic Queensland landscapes.

The Games further enhanced Queensland's global reputation as a world-class event host, with a tourism legacy already under way. TEQ hosted 110 international and domestic media and athletes during the Games from markets including the United Kingdom, New Zealand, South East Asia and Australia. These engagements showcased Queensland's memorable visitor experiences to an audience of millions.

The Games has also provided us with a global captive audience to continue rolling out our new 'Find your perfect next' campaign and continue showcasing why Queensland is the best address on earth.
