Malaysia to attract 45,000 visitors for World Youth Jazz Festival 2016

Malaysia will attract more than 45,000 visitors from 10 countries for the World Youth Jazz Festival (WYJF) to be held in Jakarta on May 6. These will come from the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, Spain, Germany, Indonesia and Turkey and other countries

World Youth Jazz Founder (WYJ) founder Nik A. Azmi said among the artistes featured would be Malaysian Waris and actress-cum-singer Maya Karin, Janine Annice (United Kingdom), Indonesia’s Dua Drum, Spain’s O’Sister! and Frederick Koster from Germany.
The event will showcase a saxophone treat, double bass pluckers and guitarists strumming their jazz pentatonic scale.

“We are bringing artistes from various music genres such as hip-hop and R&B to show that jazz can be mixed with any kind of music” he added.

The largest youth jazz festival, in its 5th year, will offer more than 20 homegrown and international youth jazz artistes performing at the Dataran Merdeka.

The WYJF 2016, co-organised by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall will also feature the launch of the MalaysiaFeelingGood campaign that aims to inculcate positive values among Malaysians.

Admission to the three-day WYJF 2016 is free.
