Atura Blacktown: A Small Hotel Making a Big Name for Itself

Hot on the heels of winning 'Best Hotel' and several other categories at the NSW TAA Awards for Excellence, Atura Blacktown, a reasonably small, reasonably priced design hotel in Sydney's West has proved once again it is a force to be reckoned with.

The finalist line-up for the coveted Hotel Management (HM) National Awards for Excellence has been released with Atura Blacktown achieving finalist status in six award categories including:
  • Hotel Interior Design
  • New Hotel
  • Midscale Accommodation
  • Marketing Campaign
  • Service to the Community
  • Hotel Rising Star - Michelle Paul (who won 'Employee Excellence in Service') at the NSW TAA Awards for Excellence.

The winners will be announced at a gala presentation dinner at Sydney's Town Hall on Friday, September 5.

“Atura is all about delivering a fresh take on the mid-market accommodation offering by providing a real design hotel experience without the designer price tag. We're delighted to see this approach is being welcomed - not just by our guests but by seasoned industry professionals,” said Geoff York, Atura Hotels Director of Operations and Development.

“One of the things that makes us feel most proud about having our property and staff recognised on a national level is that it helps put the spotlight on Blacktown and western Sydney as a tourism destination and great place to do business. With more than 90% of Atura Blacktown's staff being Western Sydney locals, it has been a great booster for staff morale.” Geoff continued. “The success of Atura Blacktown also pays dividends for the area through creation of extra jobs and through revenue generated by our guests as they explore the wider community.”

The hotel is also a finalist for 'Mid Market Hotel of the Year' at the national Australia Hotels Association (AHA) Awards for Excellence 2014 which takes place on 15 September at Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast. Two local staff members are also finalists in the national people awards - Michelle Paul for Excellence in Service and Jessica Harford for Hotel Industry Rising Star.

The hotel is also making a name for itself in Western Sydney with Atura Blacktown a finalist for Best Marketing Campaign and Service to the Community in the Western Sydney Business Awards for Excellence (WSABE Awards). The WSABE Awards will be held in Parramatta on Friday, 22 August.
