Toga Hotels Survey Reveals Australian Travel Habits

  • Aussies are taking short breaks with little planning
Australians are now taking shorter holidays and using minimal time to plan them, according to a new survey undertaken by Toga Hotels.

Toga Hotels recently surveyed more than 14,500 Australians to uncover more about their holiday planning and booking habits.

According to the survey,* 55.6 per cent of respondents said they usually take holidays over a long weekend, while 51 per cent take four or more days away. Interestingly, about 32 per cent of people were likely to take an overnight break on a regular basis.

“Our survey highlighted that location (44.2 per cent) and hottest price (37.1 per cent), remain the main decision influencers when travellers are booking their accommodation,” said Emma Fraser, Group Director of Marketing at Toga Hotels.

When asked how far in advance they would book their accommodation for a domestic holiday, 35.4 per cent said just one month in advance, while almost 20 per cent took just one to two weeks to arrange where they would stay. About half of Australians are still using their laptop or PC to make their bookings – 51.1 per cent and 49.7 per cent respectively, compared to those using tablets (18.6 per cent) or their mobiles (14.5 per cent).
