Welcoming Chinese Visitors

NSW is at the forefront of welcoming Chinese visitors to Australia, with visitors contributing more than $1.2 billion to the NSW economy.

To support tourism operators become China Ready, the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) has developed a comprehensive and authoritative training program, Welcoming Chinese Visitors.

Welcoming Chinese Visitors is a unique program that provides tourism businesses with knowledge and insights which have been developed in conjunction with leading, China-based tourism experts.

Participation in the Welcoming Chinese Visitors program gives operators the tools needed to properly engage in the Chinese market through three structured, well supported course modules. The program and content for Welcoming Chinese Visitors, including key Product Ready, Sales Ready and Service Ready sections, is endorsed by the Chinese Government.

Participants also receive pre- and post-training support and on completion have the opportunity to apply for individual certification and business accreditation through the mainland China-based China Ready & Accredited organisation. Tourism businesses do not need to be ATEC members to participate.

The Australian Tourism Export Council will be holding three workshops in regional NSW and the ACT during May, including the Hunter Valley on Saturday 6 May, Wollongong on Sunday 28 May and Canberra on Monday 29 May.

The Welcoming Chinese Visitors program has been developed in conjunction with learning and development specialist AVANA, China Ready & Accredited and TAFE NSW Western Sydney Institute.

Destination NSW encourages operators currently working in, or interested in working with, the China market to take advantage of this opportunity. For more information, including workshop registration, please visit the Australian Tourism Export Council website.
