BRAIDWOOD HERITAGE FESTIVAL

Braidwood 1907
Braidwood 2009
The Festival of Braidwood is a celebration of Braidwood and district’s heritage and culture,
from the earliest settlers through the gold rush years, federation and to the present.

The district was discovered by Europeans in the 1820’s and settled in the late 1820’s and 1830’s. The village of Braidwood, named after Dr. Thomas Braidwood Wilson, a highly respected pioneer of the district, was gazetted in 1839.

The whole of the village was heritage listed in 2006.

The BRAIDWOOD HERITAGE FESTIVAL takes place on Saturday 4 May 2013 and is a celebration of Braidwood's heritage, with activities around the village introduced by the Town Crier. The Festival will feature Traditional crafts and vehicles in Ryre Park; a parade in main street and stalls of items featuring traditional and heritage skills.
